June 29 Update

Hello Friends of Geneva Park!

Many of us will be heading up to Geneva Park over the coming months, so we wanted to give you an update on where the process is currently, what’s next, and what to expect if you visit the park for a stay this summer.

Where are we now?

The YSM has engaged Colliers (Not-For-Profit and Unique Properties groups) to assist them in the process of determining what to do with Geneva Park. The GPLA has been identified as a key stakeholder group who will be consulted throughout the process.

The GPLA has had weekly opportunities to engage with YSM leadership through its Liaison Team, to offer views, insights and feedback on the development of the real estate process and ongoing communications and engagement with our GP Family Community. They have additionally been able to meet with the Colliers team twice.

The meetings have been very collaborative. Both YSM and Colliers Canada have been appreciative of all the work the GPLA has done in making connections in the community and beyond, investigating possible solutions and keeping our community updated. The Liaison Team will continue to connect with YSM over the course of the summer and will keep the GP Community updated.

Colliers finished its initial review in mid-June and has prepared materials to provide interested parties a better understanding of the current state of the Geneva Park property. Parties submitting expressions of interest, after signing a nondisclosure agreement, can get access to this information and will have until September 15, 2021 to submit their proposal.

How can you get information about the sale during your visit to Geneva Park this summer?

Fiona Cascagnette (VP of YSM) is planning to be at the Park on Tuesdays, and available to answer your questions and hear your thoughts and hopes for GP’s future. As the member of the YMCA's leadership team with senior oversight of Geneva Park, Fiona has and will continue to provide leadership to the development and implementation of the process with Colliers International.

While there will not be a formal presentation or meeting, Fiona looks forward to connecting with any interested community members one-on-one. If you would like to connect with Fiona, you are welcome to let the staff in the office know in advance so she can come find you, or look for her at the Tuck Shop porch between 11-2pm for casual drop in chats.

Please remember that GP Staff on site will also be watching closely as the process unfolds, knowing it affects them personally as well. They have no control over these developments. Remember to be kind and know we’re all aiming for a positive outcome that allows Geneva Park to continue long into the future.

Finally, we're so grateful that Geneva Park is open for vacationing this summer, but please remember we're still dealing with covid safety regulations. Please respect the guidelines the park has in place to keep us all safe during our time at the park. Visit the YSM website or call the park if you have any questions about what to expect during your time at the park, when and how you can visit the park, and for questions about summer programs.

We look forward to keeping you updated as summer progresses!
